Good news for British wool. Hurrah. Roll on wool week.
I will be taking part in Unravel at Farnham Maltings on the 27th and 28th February 2010. On show will be my current RCA work. I will also have knitted items for sale and be giving a talk on Sunday 28th February 12.30pm – 1pm. I shall be talking about my internship with UNESCO and the Snow Leopard Conservancy which took me to the Himalayas. I collaborated with villagers working with traditional design, patterns and natural yarns to develop design ideas for hand knitted products which would benefit villagers living along the tourist trekking routes. I shall talk about the impact knitted craft has upon small and remote communities and take you through my journey in pictures and words.
Also on show Unravel 2010 there will be (word taken from the unravel website):
A variety of stands, giving everyone a chance to see, hear, share and wonder at all things woollen. Activities will include a marketplace, talks, demonstrations, workshops, exhibitions and a knitting surgery.
There will be opportunities for both experienced knitters and beginners to take part in the interaction room, with demonstrations and handy hints and tips by experts from the best of the South East’s societies, including the West Surrey Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, the Surrey Knitting & Crochet Group and the Guild of Machine knitters.
Also check out my mates Skein Queen and Alabamawhirly who will be selling yarns and knit kits in the marketplace and my knitty college chums in the student graduate gallery.
Please do come over and say hi. I’ll be there on Sunday.

I was a runner up in a stencil design competition for Crown. Today was their press evening where our stencils were displayed for the first time. I had a lovely morning painting my stencil onto canvas and returned this evening for a bit of a party. I enjoyed taking part in this project and thank you to Crown and Helen at the Stencil Library.
All designs by RCA students will be available here soon.
